Acura is preparing a big jump in sales by adding two SUVs to its range. The brand currently offers only four models, but plans to expand to six. The new vehicles are intended to fill gaps in the off‑road and full‑size segments that Americans love.
New SUVs Expand Acura's Range
The first new SUV is the Acura Passport, a rugged off‑roader based on the Honda Passport TrailSport. Acura will give it its own sheetmetal, a more upright front end, knobbier tires, and distinctive hood styling. The model is expected to go on sale in mid‑2028.
The second addition is a new full‑size, eight‑passenger SUV that will be about six inches longer than the current MDX. It will compete with the Lexus TX and will be built on the same platform as the next‑generation MDX. Production is slated for the third quarter of 2029, so the car should arrive in early 2030.
Acura will also launch a next‑generation RDX in 2028, which will showcase a new design language and an updated hybrid system. Dealers were shown special editions of the ADX, MDX and a limited‑edition Integra Type S. The expanded lineup is part of the company’s plan to boost sales and appeal to a broader customer base.
