007 First Light launches May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 will receive the game on March 18, 2027. The title follows 007 Legends, which left many players wondering if a new Bond game would return to consoles. IO Interactive announced the project in November 2020, promising a fresh take on Bond’s early missions. The six‑year development cycle allowed the studio to build a game that feels new yet familiar to fans.

IO Interactive says 007 First Light tells a brand‑new origin story. Players step into Bond’s shoes and earn his 00 status by completing missions. The film shows Bond earning 00 in Casino Royale, but the game will explore the early years that led to that point. The story is still wrapped, but the premise revolves around two kills for Her Majesty’s Secret Service to unlock the 00 badge.

The studio behind Hitman brings its stealth and action expertise to the third‑person adventure. The game keeps a third‑person perspective, allowing players to see Bond in full motion and plan stealthy takedowns. Previous Bond titles leaned on first‑person shooters, but 007 First Light aims for a broader action‑adventure feel.

The studio plans to showcase new footage at the IO Showcase on June 6, 2025, to generate excitement for the long‑awaited release. The presentation will reveal never‑before‑seen footage and signal the start of a new era for James Bond in video games.
